Soundtrack Saturday (60)

It's Saturday, and if you're familiar with my blog, you know that means that it's time for Soundtrack Saturday! So anyone who might be new to my blog (or oblivious to this meme) might be thinking, "What on Earth is Soundtrack Saturday?" Soundtrack Saturday is a bookish meme that I created so I could share my love of books and music. Each Saturday, I choose a book and post a playlist full of songs based on the characters, the plot, and the themes in the book.

But that's not all. You can participate, too! I'm inviting all interested book bloggers to participate in this meme! Each week, I'll be posting a linky at the bottom of my post so that you can share your Soundtrack Saturday playlist for other bloggers and blog readers to find.

As with all bookish memes, there are a few easy steps to follow to help you create your own perfect Soundtrack Saturday post:
  • Choose a book that you've read or are currently reading - any book is fine as long as you can create a playlist for it
  • Create a full (10+songs) or a mini (four songs) playlist for the book of your choosing
    •  For more detailed instructions on the different types of soundtracks and how to make them, please visit the meme's homepage.
  • Please credit me somewhere in your post. It can be as simple as "Soundtrack Saturday is a weekly meme that was created by Erin at The Hardcover Lover."
  • Leave a comment on my blog post if you enjoy the feature
  • Add your name to the link-up tool at the bottom of the post

The Possibility of Somewhere by Julia Day

This week's featured book is The Possibility of Somewhere by debut author Julia Day. If you haven't heard about this book yet, it's basically a modern mash-up of Romeo and Juliet and Pride & Prejudice set in North Carolina and featuring two characters from two very different cultural backgrounds.

Title: The Possibility of Somewhere
Author: Julia Day
Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin
Publication Date: September 6, 2016
Together is somewhere they long to be.

Ash Gupta has a life full of possibility. His senior year is going exactly as he’s always wanted-- he's admired by his peers, enjoying his classes and getting the kind of grades that his wealthy, immigrant parents expect. There's only one obstacle in Ash's path: Eden Moore—the senior most likely to become class valedictorian. How could this unpopular, sharp-tongued girl from the wrong side of the tracks stand in his way?

All Eden's ever wanted was a way out. Her perfect GPA should be enough to guarantee her a free ride to college -- and an exit from her trailer-park existence for good. The last thing she needs is a bitter rivalry with Ash, who wants a prized scholarship for his own selfish reasons. Or so she thinks. . . When Eden ends up working with Ash on a class project, she discovers that the two have more in common than either of them could have imagined. They’re both in pursuit of a dream -- one that feels within reach thanks to their new connection. But what does the future hold for two passionate souls from totally different worlds?

The Soundtrack

Because of the modern forbidden love story and the two very bright and gifted characters, I wanted to do a mix of songs about wanting someone but still wanting to remain true to yourself. I know that might make this seem like this playlist is giving off multiple meanings, but once you meet these characters, especially Eden, you will understand. I also wanted to capture a little bit of the setting, so you may notice a song or two about North Carolina.

I hope you enjoyed this week's Soundtrack Saturday for The Possibility of Somewhere. I know I haven't been doing them lately due to work and feeling like these posts aren't that great, but I promise to make more of an effort to be a better blogger and get these posted for those of you who love them, especially Alex.

Anyway, feel free to let me know what you think of this week's soundtrack in the comments below. And if you're a blogger who made a playlist this week (or during the past few weeks), feel free to add your link to the linky below. I'd love to check out all of the playlists that you're coming up with for all the wonderful books in the world!
