Soundtrack Saturday (4)

Soundtrack Saturday is a weekly meme that I created so I can share some of the songs that pop into my head when I'm reading a book.

If you want to participate, all you have to do is create a post of your own using just four songs, link back to me, and add your name to the link-up tool so other bloggers can see your choices for the week. Feel free to expand upon it. For example, this week, I have two character songs for two different characters in the book.

This week's feature is Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins. Below are the songs that I have included in my version of a soundtrack for the book.

Beginning of the Book:

The beginning of Isla and the Happily Ever After is adorable and hysterical. I don't want to spoil anything, but if you've read the synopsis, you know that "Love ignites in the City that Never Sleeps." I think "Enchanted" by Taylor Swift fits the feelings at the beginning of the book.

Character Songs:

There are quite a few amazing characters in this book by Stephanie Perkins. Narrowing it down proved to be quite difficult.

Isla is obviously this beautiful girl, but somehow, she can't get outside of her comfort zone. I went way back in time to pick this song... Not really... just to when the Disney Channel was still good. I think the song, "Outside Looking In" by Jordan Pruitt accurately describes how Isla has felt at school all these years. She wanted so badly to be a part of Josh's life.

Josh is also an extremely complicated character, especially at the beginning of his senior year. He's feeling lost without his friends, and he's back to skipping school again. I think the perfect song for Josh is "You Don't Know How it Feels" by Tom Petty.

Relationship Song:

If you haven't read this book yet, trust me on this one. You will swoon. Multiple times. Obviously Josh and Isla fall for one another, and I think the perfect song to capture their feelings can come from the one and only Ed Sheeran with his extremely romantic song, "Kiss Me."

End of the Book Song:

Alright... this one might be a dead giveaway because the title of the book is Isla and the Happily Ever After, but this song is simply perfect because it's just as adorable as a Perkins novel. For the ending song, I'm going with "Happily Ever After" by He is We.

So there's my Soundtrack Saturday for the week. Feel free to participate, and be sure to leave a comment and add your name to the link-up tool! I'd love to see what songs you think of when you're reading!
